The verdict

Shelling. Thin tide for shelling. Low water 0.8 ft at 2:13 PM off Lighthouse Beach — walk the bars 12:43 PM – 3:43 PM. NOAA predicts 0.2 ft; 7 kt more southerly than normal for the month should add about 0.6 ft to that. Wind is forecast rather than measured for this one.

Fishing. Water moves 7:48 AM – 10:48 AM, outgoing, inside daylight.

Shelling grades the lowest daylight low water, corrected for wind: alongshore wind moves the water on this coast by roughly 0.06 to 0.09 ft per knot over the preceding twelve hours, which is often wider than the gap between one grade and the next. The range is honest — the nearest water-level gauges are up the estuary, not on the Gulf beach. It is still a rule of thumb and not a promise. Fishing is not graded: we publish when the water moves in daylight and leave the judgement to you. We tested the usual solunar timing against 38,986 logged trips and it predicted nothing, so we stopped printing it.
